Safe Travels

My friend, Ashley, moved away on Monday but for a wonderful adventure. She will be spending a year in Taiwan teaching English to kids. It’s a great opportunity for her to get out and explore. I told her never to return and enjoy the world.

While she may have left, she did leave me with something to remember her by. She is an amazing artist with clay. She hand threw this vase and glazed it as a trade with me.

IMG_5098What did she get in return? This zippered tote bag. She needed a bag to carry on her essentials while traveling. Since she couldn’t find one she liked I made her this.

Now we have something to remember each other by. While I’ll miss her I am happy for her.

Richard and I are going to Florida for a week with our good friends the Redpath’s and Herberts. We are staying in Lake Placid. I’m excited to finally get a vacation.

So for our trip I decided to make some fun dresses that will be comfortable to hang by the lake in. I made two convertible dresses, one long and one short, out of some beautiful stretch rayon and a cotton maxi dress. Here are pictures of the front and back of the maxi dress. The print is an Alexander Henry fabric I found at JoAnns. I really love his prints.

While in Florida my friend Christine and I are going to drive up to Orlando to check out Harry Potter World. Yes I’m taking my robe. I cut back from taking my whole costume. Speaking of Harry Potter, check out the photos of my Part 2 Harry Potter Party from July 15 taken by Doug Yoho. They are awesome!

See ya’ll next week!
